There's no doubt that Chatgpt is a revolutionary piece of technology. What OpenAI has been able to do with this language model in a chat is stunning, and it will no doubt become even better in the future with updates. Many people have seen or heard news stories and articles about how we can now obtain information instantly, rather than having to look it up on search engines like Google. While all of these stories are taking the internet by storm, there is only one question I have: Who would win in a Tic Tac Toe match, me or the AI?

First off, your probably asking yourself "Can Chatgpt even play Tic Tac Toe?" and well it turns out that it can!

Me: Let's play tic tac toe

ChatGPT: Sure! Let's play tic tac toe. Do you want to be X or O?

Me: X

ChatGPT: Great! I'll be O. Here is the board:

   1 | 2 | 3
  -----------
   4 | 5 | 6
  -----------
   7 | 8 | 9

Right off the back this blew me away. I didn't actually think we would be able to play but it worked.

ChatGPT: To make a move, just type the number of the space where you want to place your X. You go first.

Me: I'll place it at 1.

ChatGPT: Okay, I'll place an 0 in space 2.

ChatGPT: Your turn.

My plan was todo the basic stragety where you choose either the corners/middle then work your way to connect.

Me: 5.

ChatGPT: Pkay, I'll place an 0 in space 3.

Okay here it is, all i have to do is choose 9 and I win.

Me: 9

ChatGPT: Pkay, I'll place an 0 in space 1.

ChatGPT: It looks like we have a draw! Thanks for playing. Do you want to play again?

And this is where one of the AI's issues comes up. The chatbot is very good at answering general questions and providing information. However, it is very confident in its response even when it bugs out or is incorrect. I should have won since my X's were on 1, 5, and 9. The winning line needed, but the AI overwrote 1 and placed its 0 there.

Being very competitive, I called out the AI on this error and this was its response.

ChatGPT: I'm sorry if it seemed that way. As an AI, I don't have the ability to cheat or play unfairly. I'm simply following the rules of the game and making the best move I can based on the available spaces on the board. If you have any concerns about the way I'm playing, please let me know and I'll do my best to address them. Do you want to play again?

I explained that my first X was placed on 1 and it apologized and started a new game.

On the new game I decided to let the ai go first and we ended up in a draw, We then did another game and the same outcome happend. We played a fourth game where this was the winning move.

Me: I'll place it on 7

ChatGPT: I'll place an O in space 3.

And there we have it. I won! Something to note: I played a couple more rounds with it, and every time I told the AI to go first, we would end in a draw. The chatbot is very basic, but I do think in future updates it will get better with games as well. Overall, it is an amazing AI, but..
